Speed Limit 180: Another Musical Night

Once again, I had the pleasure of shooting photos of my daughters and their bandmates in their amazing rock band, Speed Limit 180! Last night, these young musicians performed again at Junior's in Round Rock. They've been working really hard, practicing and adding some new songs to their playlist, to include songs from Santana and Stevie Ray Vaughn. It is amazing to see how talented they all are!

Here are some of the photos from their performance! Keep rocking, guys! -- S

Spring Fever Fotos

Well, it's that time of year again and I think it has officially arrived at my house ... yep, that 'ole Spring Fever is back! Yesterday, it was just WAY too pretty to be indoors, and I saw a facebook post from a friend who said she was headed out to The Domain (thank you Tricia!). I decided that reading my photography book over a cinnamon latte while outside sounded like a great idea! I packed up my camera too and headed out as fast as I could.

In anticipation of spring break next week, my kids have had spring fever for a little while now. But yesterday while at The Domain, I saw all kinds of signs that the new season is upon us -- beautiful weather, people lunching outside, spring sale signs up, lots of cheery colors -- and then the fever hit me too! While I was sitting in the shade, there was still a little chill in the air. The outdoor fireplace was going, and I was even lucky enough to nab a rocking chair next to the fire for some quiet reading time. Sooo nice!

Speaking of nice, I have to give a shout out to the wonderful young lady and her gorgeous daughter I met. We got to chatting about photography and since then she has visited my website, sent me a lovely email and had some really kind words to say. Thank you, Michelle ... as I said earlier, you've brightened my day!

Here are some pics from my spring feverish afternoon! Enjoy! -- S

My kids love the little barista bears from Starbucks, no matter what season it is. These Valentine bears were on clearance too! Had to get this cute pic ... oh, and my cinnamon latte too!

My VERY COOL reading spot, in front of the outdoor fireplace, for the afternoon!

Spring 2010 ... now officially at the Brogdon house too! :)

Scenes from the Ballpark

For someone who has not actually, officially, played softball (or baseball, for that matter), I've always spent a lot of time around ballparks. When my brother David was little, we often went to his little league games. I remember my father taught me how to catch a ball at a local park (a very fond memory for me). When I was in high school, I was a 'Diamond Doll' for the varsity baseball team. And when Jon and I were dating, we watched a lot of baseball movies and would head out to a ballpark to throw a ball around, and we used to watch a friend of ours play the game (yes, you Dom!). Now, with Chris playing ball, it seems like we're always there, and yeah ... it feels like home :).

Here are pictures from Christopher's recent games. His team is doing well, having won their first two games so far. We're looking forward to a good season!

Have a great weekend! -- S

"Baseball has been 'berry, berry' good to me!" -- Garrett Morris, Saturday Night Live

So far this season, Chris has gotten on base every time at bat! Good job, little man!

I think the funny thing about this picture is this: notice how it's the GIRL on the team that's 'baseball ready', and the guy behind her is, uhhhhh ... not so much? Mmmm hmmmm!

This guy was on Christopher's team last season, and so far this time, I've been able to get some great pictures from his turns at bat. Love this one!

Chris loves being the catcher!

A scene from the ballpark, just before the game. If you look closely to the left under the tree, you can even see the little bugs hovering around in the sunlight. :)

Baseball Boy

My little man has been around baseball all his life. Since he was born in December, Chris was just months old when Opening Day came along, and of course, Jon promptly took our only son to the games with him. To, you know, indoctrinate him early ... ha! ha! We love the game, that's true. And we always hoped that all of our kids would at least have a strong appreciation for America's favorite past time. So when Christopher decided on his own that he wanted to sign up for t-ball, we were thrilled!

He's been playing ball for a few years. He struggled with it a bit at first, but we've watched his skills develop, and now he seems to have fallen into his groove. He likes being the catcher and in the outfield. Last night was his first scrimmage game of the season (he called it a "spinach" game -- how cute is that?), in which he got on base every time at bat AND hit a triple!! Way to go, dude!

Here are some pics from last night's game, and a few not to be forgotten photos of my little guy's baseball indoctrination time in his life (smile).

So, can you guess where I'll probably be tonight? Yep, at the ballpark ... it's time for living la vida baseball again!

Have a great day! -- S

Christopher's triple hit!!

At bat the second time.

There is a girl on the team this season. We remember her from last time ... she's really good. Love her bat .... official baseball freak!

My baby boy was only about four months old in this picture. Jon took him to many games like this ... in his jammies because we knew he wouldn't stay awake for an entire game, and a baseball hat. So cute! -- April2002

We were at the Dell Diamond watching an Express game. When I saw this picture I immediately thought of him possibly thinking "I see baseball in my future!" -- April2004

Germs & Gents

Whew! It's Monday, and another crazy week behind us! It snowed (as in winter wonderland'ish kind of stuff), and my kids were sick just about the whole time. I love my kids, but I ... ummmm ... really appreciate them being in school all day. Just kind of need that mommy break, you know? But, as in Olympic fashion, they tag teamed being home from school this week. Just when one would get better and go back (and raise my hopes of having a normal school day) s/he handed off that germy baton to another kiddo who inevitably bit the flu bug dust and ended up at home sick ... AGAIN! Not. Fun.

So while the week didn't turn out so great, my weekend was better. I made a quick trip to Houston on a photography related venture, which turned out to be very cool. My favorite part of the weekend? Well, even though my Center for Disease kids were sick all week, they eventually got better and I missed my little guys, sniffles and all. Seeing them when I got back was the best part of the weekend, for sure! But another added bonus was spending some time with my nephews Matthew and Nicholas. Besides my own kids, I simply adore these boys! I so wish I could see them more. They make me laugh, and their sweet gentle souls just warm my heart.

Here are a few snow days pics, and a few fun pics of me and two of my favorite boys! Have a great Monday! -- S
